I have been using this product for years. I notice strong nails when I’m using it. When I tried another cheaper brand for a few months, my finger nails became thin and soft.

As I already take a Jarrow Vitamin B Complex, I was looking for a supplement that contained all of the other vitamins that I wanted to take like Magnesium, Zinc and Copper to save me buying multiple other individual bottles.
I did use to take individual Magnesium and individual Vitamin D, both high strength, but I became concerned about this when I kept reading articles in journals saying that you should not do this and taking high strength Vitamin D on its own can be incredibly dangerous as without adequate levels of Vitamin K, any calcium you have ingested will calcify in the blood or the kidneys rather than going into the bones as it should. Essentially, Calcium and Vitamin D need to be taken together and in relative amounts with Vitamin K for you to get the benefits. This is just an example, but Zinc and Copper are another, and Magnesium needs to be taken with Calcium etc. They are an easy to swallow size, two should be taken three times a day.
This is why I love this supplement, as it contains all of the other vitamins in relative amounts. As it contains so many vitamins, one serving size is 6 of these capsules, but actually I only take 2 of these a day. As I’m eating a relatively healthy diet, I don’t think I need 6, but I do feel a lot better mentally and physically since starting these – I have CFS/ME. I have always suffered with sore, weak wrists and since taking these I have noticed that my wrists feel a lot stronger and more supple. I do eat a dairy free diet, so I wonder if the Calcium in these along with the appropriate amounts of Magnesium and Vitamin D are helping me with this.
Solgar do sell a similar version, but theirs contains Titanium Dioxide, which I want to avoid. The Solgar version also does not contain the Vitamins in their most absorbable form, which is why Jarrow have taken over from Solgar for me as the Vitamin of choice. The only thing with these is that they contain gelatin which I think must be from bovine sources although it doesn’t specifically state this on the ingredients. They also contain a compound called StimuCal which has been obtained from free range New Zealand calves, so they won’t be appropriate for vegetarians/vegans. I did have some stomach pain when I first started taking these as I don’t generally eat meat, but this was only for the first couple of days and now my body is used to them.
I am happy I started taking these as I have seen positive results. They were around £20 when I bought them, which if you take the required 6 a day, would last for 40 days, but as I’m taking 2 a day, these will last me 120 days/4 months, which I think is really great value. I may increase to three a day and see how I feel, and they would still last me around 2.5 months.
If my review helped you in any way, I would be really grateful if you could ‘like’ and please feel free to leave me a comment. If I didn’t help, please get in touch and let me know how I can improve.

A lot of calcium supplements are very minimalistic in what they offer, and more times than not provide the cheapest form of calcium which can’t even be used in the human body properly, and without containing any supporting nutrients. Fortunately, this supplement solves this problem.
Firstly, the form of calcium here is worth getting it this alone. Most calcium supplements contain Calcium Carbonate which is the most popular form, but known to be the most unabsorbable form of calcium to the body – meaning we can’t really use what we are paying for in the first place. It can also give a range of side effects. It’s found in things such as chalk and limestone, so not exactly appealing once you know where it comes from. Here, the calcium used (StimuCal) which is naturally occurring, and far superior in absorption as it’s the calcium found in actual bone with other micronutrients that support absorption. It’s also absorbed at a non-rapid rate which prevents spikes of calcium in the blood which cause many health problems (such as kidney issues, etc).
Importantly, there are a range of other nutrients included which are required for bone support/growth. Vitamin D3 is crucial as it allows for the absorption of calcium, and it works together closely with Vitamin K2 which is also included. K2 is really important as it essentially tells the calcium where to go in the body (the bones), and not build up in the soft tissues where it’s not meant to be. There is 1,000iu of D3 which is as much as some lower dose dedicated D3 supplements provide, but only 40% of your daily K2, so I take more K2 separately. Moreover, 90% of the daily amount for Zinc is included which is properly balanced with Copper. Both of which are in good forms which could essentially replace your Zinc supplement.
One downside is that the form of Magnesium included is Magnesium Oxide which is a let-down as it’s the from of Magnesium that is often recommended to stay away from due to its poor bio-availability. I personally take a separate form of Magnesium. Additionally, another thing is that you have to take 6 tablets a day which is not ideal, but it’s required to get the daily amount, but this could be a pain for people that don’t enjoy taking tablets much, especially at a larger size.
Overall, this is a great supplement which is far better than most Calcium supplements on the market which are cheaply made and that don’t really benefit you. It’s worth the money too, since it’s more than just Calcium you’re getting, and will last 40 days. I hope this review helps with your decision.

Been taking this supplement for years, smugly thinking I’m getting enough daily vitamin D (and the other ingredients) in one pill. More fool me – this morning I looked more closely at the label of my empty ‘trusty’ Bone-up and saw that all the ingredient amounts are 1/6th of the those on the label. Instead of giving the Amount per Serving, give the Amount per pill. On the other hand they’ve had a lot of money out of me over the years through their subterfuge.

It arrived long before predicted which was an excellent surprise. I am only taking two capsules in the evening to help me sleep and as a needed bone support. It seems to be working and intend to increase the dose as necessary. Quite pleased with purchase. Don’t let the delivery time put you off, it arrived promptly. I paid £16.
