Seems well made and small and light enough to wear . Setup is fairly easy if your tech minded. You will need a mobile phone to set this up. Some of the instructions are as bit vague. You can text the word “loc” to the phone and it will reply with a text message containing the location which, so far, has been fairly accurate although it might be more accurate if its outside. You can also request the status of the device but the return text is pretty well gibberish with little information on what it means. The alarm does respond if you hold the call button down for about 3 seconds and the speaker is surprisingly clear for such a small item. One word of advice. Use your own PAYG sim card. I use 1pMobile but there are lots of much cheaper options than the sim card sent with the alarm. Not tested the fall detection (obviously!) but you can turn a lot of the options on or off. Turning GPS off will extend the battery life if the wearer is indoors all the time or always accompanied when outdoor. Probably the best and most cost effective option available at the moment.

The alarm is a neat package. Set-up was straightforward. The instructions, as others have said, are not the clearest but are fine in the essentials. We replaced the provided sim with a pay-as-you-go from our current provider which proved to be a little fiddly as the sim gate didn’t want to lock in position so we had to rely on ensuring a proper fit within the slot on closing up the device. Reassuringly, the mobile signal came on strong. The text command interface with our mobiles was effortless. It’s now been in operation for a week and works well when tested. Voice communication between our mobiles and the device is clear and the volume level is sufficient to be heard by my somewhat deaf 96-year old mother when hanging on the neck lanyard. All-in-all it seems a very good piece of kit. One concern is that other than when it was initially charged it doesn’t now seem to want to charge through the docking station – I suspect this may be down to me having disturbed the connection between the terminals and the device when fitting the sim, which I may well investigate when I get up the nerve – but it does charge well when connected directly via the USB cable. Battery life seems pretty good – the initial charge sufficient to keep the device alive for six days on standby. For the functionality and peace of mind it’s well worth the investment.

My mother is in her mid-80’s with Parkinson’s and effectively bed-ridden. She continues to live at home but everything is now a struggle for her. Even controlling the TV is difficult both mentally and physically.
It was essential to set up a phone she could use to call for help when alone or to receive calls with as much simplicity as possible.

After trying a number of options this one has hit a bullseye.

Pressing one big silver SOS button will text three nominated numbers asking for help before ringing them.
Once answered by one of the nominated numbers it is possible to talk to my mother for a proper two way conversation without her having to struggle to press any further buttons or switches at all. The device’s speaker booms out a remote callers voice and the microphone on the device picks up my mother’s response.

Importantly, the device can receive calls without my mother having to press any buttons.
It vibrates/rings and auto answers an incoming call without any need for my mother to do anything.
two way communication is then possible.

There are similar services that you can pay for that UK councils tend to recommend.
They have the big disadvantage that you pay a subscription for a monitored call desk which is quite expensive. This may meet your needs if there is no relative/friend/carer who can respond but in most cases it is overkill. Especially if the user does not answer the returned SOS call, the monitored call desk service will often send for the emergency services to go to the owners home and may even kick the door down assuming a major emergency. A friend has had this happened and is now getting one of these devices.

The support I received from the vendor was also good. The first one I received had a speaker problem but it was replaced very quickly by the vendor.

My mother can no longer handle phones of any type so this has really solved a big problem for us. It’s hung round her neck and enables two way communication as an SOS button or as a receiver. There are quite a few configuration settings for a more active wearer that we don’t use. It is expensive. But for the benefits it gives it is worth the money. I highly recommend it.

Ordered this for my 87 year old mum who REFUSED to have a panic button that was monitored by “strangers”. She reluctantly accepted this one as we could put family numbers in it and monitor it ourselves so that is a HUGE PLUS.
It arrived very quickly and it was easy enough to set up contact numbers – although follow the instructions carefully as to the number format!
I am blown away with the capability of this device, I can actually speak to mum via the button – we’ve only had to use it to practice with fortunately, but it is very easy to use provided the button is pressed quite firmly.
Topping up with ‘credit’ is easy and quick and good value too
Mum finds charging it a bit awkward, it has to be put into the cradle until it buzzes – easy enough when you know how but mum had to practice to make sure it is actually charging. We find the button easily lasts about 5 days without charging if it hasn’t been used to call.
The only downside we’ve found is the flashing lights on the fob – both flash on and off at various times, one is quite dim but the blue light is VERY bright which mum finds quite disturbing at night – I emailed SureSafe to ask if there is a way to turn the light off or down a bit but they haven’t replied (which is a bit disappointing) so I’ve put a bit of tape over the lights to cover them!
All in all a great purchase!!
