Lawn seed arrived OK. I called Customer Service on 2/3/23 to discuss application for restoring bare patches. Advised wait until ground temp is above 12C (as shown on the packet). Lawn was mown and scarified (as detailed on the packet). I asked if I needed to sprinkle soil over the top to stop the birds eating the seed and was advised that the seed has a chemical coating that birds don’t like. Waited until ground was 13C before spreading seed in the first week of April in accordance with instructions – thinly where small bare patches and thicker on big patches, then watered. Have watered every day since except when it has rained.
No sign of any germination and somebody forgot to tell the birds as they have eaten a lot of the seed.
First pic attached shows bare patch where birds have eaten the seed and temp of 14.2C, second pic shows bare patch where seed is present but has not germinated.
Please refund the £67.

Very good germination.

part sown with normal grass for less than 2f. another sown this one, it grew in abundance, but more was eaten by the birds. those grains with a shell, brilliant zero birds after sowing, but almost nothing grew . Final score middle happy

Used this seed for a few years now. As every year my lawn looks crap after the winter. Never fails to come up. It’s the only one I recommend if asked

I waited a few months for the review. The coverage was great growth and thickness is good. No birds went for the seed and the only small patches are where the dogs run a lot so we weren’t expecting a miracle there but it’s starting to fill in . Lots of seed left over just incase it needs a top up

The before and after pictures speak for themselves. Would 110% recommend. Used in combination with argos’ £15 seed spreader.

Really good grass seed. First pic shows just before I threw the seed on after having scarified the lawn. I used the normal garden fork to aerate the lawn and then used a seed spreader to apply the seed. I should also note I used the A1 lawn pre seed at the same time as spreading the grass seed. The results in the photos are after 4 weeks.

Like other contributors, I can confirm after buying many bags and boxes of this seed, the majority of it is husk of the seed. I guess this is related to the processing of the seeds to give the aqua gel coating. As a result I have found I need a lot more seed than advertised (at least double) making seeding a lawn excessively expensive. That said, what I have found the seeds that are there do grow vigorously with a good success rate even in heavily shaded areas. The grass is deep green and suspect I’ll have a vibrant lawn for years to come. As a tip, I would say that if you don’t intend to cover in a dusting of top soil, ensure you sow when you won’t get lost of direct sun. We watered every couple of days and got germination after 4-5 days. I held off cutting the grass for 3 weeks which seemed to be enough time for the lawn to establish.
