disgusting smell / taste, i brought this when i was having some gum pain and used it twice.. type of thing i would use only when it’s needed as it’s so horrible to use, but it definitely does something

I am not a fan of the strong listerines, but bought this one to give a good clean to the gums. It works well, and you do kinda get use to that slight burning feeling. Only use once in the evening before bed (using a milder one for after eating).

Now, to be completely up front, this is a nuclear weapon. It buuuuuurrrrrns. Also it stained my teeth when using a manual toothbrush, but with electric, this did not occur. However, it is very effective at solving gum issues and it makes your breath smell nice. So I would recommend it for anyone with gum problems.

The cap on this mouthwash has no measuring lines. The recommended dosage is 20ml – I have checked using a measuring cup and 20ml is ALMOST a full cap. Most mouthwash I use, the dosage is half a cap, and that is what I used at first.
If you use less than 20ml it DEFINITELY burns a lot more. Like to the point that I can’t stand the whole 30 seconds.
If you use the 20ml it mostly fills your mouth so when you swish it around, there isn’t as much air, and I assume that’s what makes it burn. It burns slightly, then slightly more when you spit it out, then after a few seconds the sensation should be gone.
I am wondering if the other folks who found a sensitivity problem with this mouthwash might be using too small of an amount. I was shocked at how big of a difference it made – you would think using more would hurt more!
I have suffered from bleeding gums for a long time and find that the only thing that keeps it at bay is chlorhexidine mouthwash. I thought I’d try this one for a change as it states it can help gum disease. It seems to help a little, so far.
I will finish the bottle & amend the review if required, but my opinion is: it’s about the same price as using Chlorhexidine purchased from Bodycare/Savers, and even the version with alcohol in it is easier to handle than this. I thought this was worth more as it’s a bigger bottle, but it’s double the dosage, so the bottle would actually run out faster than Chlorhexidine.

This is a great mouthwash if you need to care for your gums. I don’t have gum disease or gingivitis that I am aware of but I do have issues with wisdom tooth that has only slightly grown out and my dentist has advised me to use a mouthwash that will help with gum disease. I felt this did help keep my mouth and gums clean and protected. It helped my mouth feel really fresh too. I recently bought a water flosser as well that did irritate my gums and made them bleed slightly when first using it, I used this mouthwash and it seemed to help them heal really quickly and also didn’t sting at all. I like that the bottle is 50% recycled plastic and can also be recycled but higher percentage than that would be preferable! I couldn’t see this product is cruelty free which I didn’t like.
