These were NOT double pom poms marigolds as shown on pack!
All were the single petaled flowers. OK but not as described.

My wife and I like marigolds in our patio pots and garden borders.

We have just planted these in seed trays and popped them in the greenhouse. Time will tell! ????????????

I grow from seed on the allotment every year with these and always get excellent blooms. Plant them in small pots of compost such as Wickes and they come up every time. They encourage the bees which is great for pollination. The flowers vary between bright orange and yellow.

The seeds came in a small colourful paper pouch. As I am a first-timer, I find the seeds rather funny-looking – they all look like little bits of two-coloured hey, one darker end, and another lighter.

As I was just too eager to start planting, I just scattered them on rough soil ‘with a little bit of orderly discipline’ about a week ago (after July 10). Then the weather turned rather hot. Didn’t know what to expect but just kept watering to make soil look damp.

Then, surprise! I found tiny little green heads today, and counted about 30 of them – I think there must have been more than 150 of those hay sticks-looking seeds. Not bad at all for a newbie like myself.

I shall keep updating in another week, to see if they can actually survive the heat as a young shoot.

    Update after one week:

Most of my young shoots died. Only 2 left. Not the fault of the plant I suppose, since I did not plant them in good soil. They look easy enough to sprout so I may purchase and try again.
