I’m not sure what it is about these but my mom starting feeling the different things before I even had it open all the way. She did ask what she was supposed to do with it and I told her she was supposed to do exactly what she was doing. I did show her the zipper and pouch that she could open and close but she liked feeling the different soft things on the blanket. And she liked the puppy dog face that was on there too. I was skeptical about a fidget blanket but when I saw Mom’s reaction to it I think it’s a great thing and would recommend this one. It’s not too big or too small, she can have it in her lap while she’s sitting in her chair. Great product for someone with dementia.

I have gifted this fidget blanket to a friend who mine who grandmother is suffering from dementia. My own grandmother suffered from dementia/stroke before passing away so as soon as I saw this blanket I thought it would be a useful and appreciated gift for my friend to pass onto her grandmother.
The blanket is used to help with anxiety and gives my friends grandmother something to distract her and focus on.
The blanket is made and stitched very well and has many textures such as rope, zips, fur and pockets to evoke her senses and keep her mind occupied.
My friends grandmother has been resting it on her lap and has been using it frequently which I’m so pleased with. After she’s done with it, it’s easy enough to store away.
It can be stressful not only for the person suffering from dementia but their loved ones too so by no means is this blanket a cure however it gives loved ones who are caring for the sufferer a little bit of rest bite even for a short period.
At the current price of £29.99 it’s good value for money and my friend recommends it.

My mother has late mid-state Alzheimer’s disease which means she relies on carers for all personal care, isn’t sure where she is, suffers confusion, limited speech and has mobility and balance leading to falls. I ordered this for her largely as a means of keeping her distracted and sitting safely in her chair while my father prepares meals and undertakes household chores. If she’s distracted and ‘busy’, then dad can carry on with his chores knowing she is occupied and isn’t about to try and wander off risking a fall.
The mat is very soft, made from a light plush fabric, bound with polyester webbing and features various tactile textures, loops, zips, a pocket (I pop a wrapped Quality Street chocolate inside), toggle button and strings to tie or twiddle. On the reverse are three further brightly coloured loops.
I’m still learning about dementia and wasn’t sure what mum would make of it so, rather than make a big deal of giving it to her as a present, I sat fiddling with it at the table myself and let mum show interest, then moved it to her side of the table to see what she did with it.
Her first action was to stroke it and look underneath, then she stroked the fine yellow ‘fur’ panel. She looked quite intently at it, opening and closing the zips, pushing her fingers in the green fabric loops and generally exploring it. 30 minutes passed and she was still showing interest.
The next day, while dad did some other chores, I brought it out again and she seemed to recognise it. Another day she picked it up and smoothed the soft dimpled side against her face. This has continued daily.
I can’t speak for other users, but mum seems very happy with it and if she’s happy, occupied and distracted, then the rest of the household are happy too.
It’s a simple idea, very soft, well made and washable. There were a few loose cut threads on mine but I just plucked these off.

My mother absolutely loves this blanket. When she’s having not so good days, it relaxes her to simply stroke the different materials. On good days, she likes to tie the ropes in knots and move the rings around. It’s very stimulating for her and calming .

Good quality, came up a little smaller than expected from the picture, down side, it is not washable as the colours ran when tried to hand wash it. My mom has dememtia and she plays with this a lot, and it keeps her entertained, its a good idea as she used to enjoy sewing and making things.

Used by a loved one with dementia. Keeps them engaged and interested with the various, textures and functions. It definitely prevents them from fidgeting. Would recommend
